Grant applications for Presbytery's Self-Development of
People (SDOP) funds for 2008 are now being received. Size of grants range
from any amount needed up to around $10,000, and usually average near
$5,000. Grants address long-term conditions that keep people bound by
poverty or oppression. If you know of a worthy self-directed group in your
community that may qualify, please contact the Presbytery Office. The grant
application (domestic application), criteria for funding and other helpful
information may be accessed from the national SDOP website:
www.pcusa.org/sdop
Suggestions are provided for
downloading the application for completing offline. The application is
offered for download in either English or Spanish and in either Word or pdf
file format. Completed
applications should then be forwarded to Central Florida Presbytery. Please
contact Dr. Ed Peterson or
any member of Presbytery's SDOP subteam if you have questions or need
further assistance.
Applications for 2008 funds may be submitted no later than September 1,
2008; however, applications will be considered on a first-in/first-
considered basis and qualifying grants processed as received.

The
Central Florida Presbytery
Committee
for
Self-Development
of People
may
be able to offer self-help grants to the poor and disadvantaged in your
community.
Do
you know a
group that could
use such a grant?
|
|
If you believe
that a group in your community might meet the following guidelines,
please let us know right away:
1.
The
proposal must address long term improvement.
2.
The
proposal and funding must be owned and controlled by those who will
benefit from the grant.
3.
The
proposal must state its goal, steps to accomplish the goal, and ways the
benefiting individuals will be involved in achieving the goal.
4.
The
proposal must present a complete budget showing actual and expected
funding and expenses, a financial plan for the life of the proposal, and
how expenditures will be managed.
5.
The
proposal must show how and when the group will evaluate progress toward
the goal and objectives and how the greater community will be involved
in the evaluation.

FUNDING
IS BASICALLY
A ONE-TIME GRANT OF
“SEED MONEY” TO ADDRESS
A SPECIFIC NEED.

of People
is a ministry that affirms God’s concern for humankind. We are
Presbyterians and ecumenical partners dissatisfied with poverty and
